Location. La Casa de la Marquesa is a baroque style property located in the colonial city of Quer�taro, Mexico. The hotel is positioned near the main plaza of Quer�taro, known for its mansions, cathedrals and cobblestone streets. The city's Historic Monuments Zone is listed as a Unesco World Heritage Cultural site.
Hotel Features. This intricately designed and decorated hotel was built in 1756 as a private residence, but opened its doors as a luxury lodging in May, 1995. A masterpiece of restoration, the hotel has been embellished with objets d'art from across the globe. The on site restaurant, Comedor de la Marquesa, serves international and regional fare, while a coffee shop prepares traditional Mexican dishes. The Lounge Bar offers a variety of international and domestic drinks. Function space accommodates up to 25 people. A 40 foot long outdoor garden pool provides refreshing relaxation. This property houses an aromatherapy spa. The hotel concierge can direct guests to nearby leisure amenities including horseback riding stables, health and fitness clubs, and tennis courts. An antiques and art gallery is located on the hotel's premises.
Guestrooms. La Casa de la Marquesa offers 25 air conditioned guestrooms and suites, some that extend onto city or patio view balconies. Rooms contain antiquities collected from around the world. Most rooms feature rich ochre color schemes accented with traditional colonial style, dark wood furnishings. Rooms include bathrooms stocked with complimentary toiletries. Internet access is available. Fresh flowers are replenished in the rooms daily.
Expert Tip. An 18th century legend suggests that a Marquis fell in love with a beautiful nun, Clarisa. His adoration could not be requited, but at her request he poured his emotions into the building of a majestic aqueduct that provided water to the entire city, including the home dedicated in Clarisa's honor La Casa de la Marquesa.
