Expert Tip. Berthed alongside the aquarium and Sea Museum on Genoa's waterfront is a replica galleon, built for the 1986 Roman Polanski film Pirates. The Neptune figurehead is impressive, but on board, the cannon balls and barrels of rum are all fibreglass and Styrofoam.

Driving Directions

From Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA):
Distance to the Golden Tulip Moderno Verdi is 7 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Taxis are available from outside the terminal and cost about 25 EUR to the hotel. The Volabus service runs hourly between the airport and Brignole railway station, 50 metres from the hotel. Travellers can take the metro, buses or Trenitalia trains from Stazione Principe to various Italian destinations. Frequent trains run between Genoa and the Italian Riviera resorts. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Genoa city centre is easy to explore on foot. There is an extensive bus network and a limited metro service. An unlimited day travel pass costs 3 EUR. Passes are available from kiosks and AMT ticket offices. Ferries operate from the harbour to many coastal resorts, including Santa Margherita and Rapollo.

Driving directions. From Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport:
Follow signs for Genova Ovest and on to the railway station gardens.
The Golden Tulip Moderno Verdi is very close to the station on Piazza Verdi Square.
